The name of this course, which means "land in sight" in Portuguese, evokes the first landing of Europeans in the country over 500 years ago. Terravista's three thousand acres, situated on Brazil's "Discovery Coast," embrace their natural surroundings, which include colorful hillsides, lush native forest and gleaming beaches beside the blue-green ocean.

Another of Dan Blankenship's designs in Brazil, this course, which opened in 2004, offers a nice variety of nines. The front nine are threaded amid the thick forest, while the back holes lay amid towering the vermillion cliffsides for which the area is known. The green for the signature 14th looks down over the waves some twenty yards below, where huge sea turtles and whales can be seen cavorting. To add to the fun and mystery, while this hole and the one next to it were being constructed, the remains of a previously unknown pre-Columbian civilization were found.
